Glan-y-Bala's History
Steeped in history, Glan-y-Bala has lots to tell, starting in the mid 17th century, a 2-roomed cottage supporting a family of 7, ruined chicked coups, pig & boar enclusures, and the beer pit (sadly no longer in use!)
Then there's the visit of their Royal Highnesses the Duke & Duchess of York in 1899, who later became King George V and Queen Mary. Also the unofficial building of Lancaster bomber wings underneath the property during the second World War, however this can neither be confirmed nor denied, of course! And there's lots more where this came from! Once again, over the coming weeks, we will be adding to this page as we transfer information from our old web site, and possibly as we discover more about Glan-y-Bala's colourful history. So bookmark this page as it will be changing over the coming weeks! |
