Getting to Glan-y-Bala

From Bangor (A55)
Take the A5 toward Betws-y-Coed in the right hand lane for about 500 metres to the roundabout and turn right (2nd exit) on to the A4244. Continue on to the next roundabout and turn left. Continuing straight on you will pass a petrol station on the left, then downhill to the T-junction with the A4086. Turn Left.

Follow the A4086 as if you are coming from Caernarfon.

From Caernarfon (A4086)
With Lake Padarn on your left, ignore signs for Llanberis village centre and carry straight on until you pass Electric Mountain Visitor Centre on the left. Just after the pedestrian crossing take the second left turn, as the first is for buses only, following the sign for the National Slate Quarry Museum & Padarn Lake Railway.

Follow direction in the last paragraph “The last little bit...”

From Betws-y-Coed (A5)
Take the A4086 from Capel Curig over the Llanberis Pass and onward through Nant Peris. On entering Llanberis, the Royal Victoria Hotel will be on the right and the Snowdon Mountain Railway will be diagonally opposite on the left. Take the next right turn signposted Slate Quarry Museum & Padarn Lake Railway. Follow direction in the last paragraph “The last little bit...”

The last little bit...
Continue straight on and at the mini round-a-bout, turn left. Immediately after the speed ramp but before the narrow-gauge railway crossing turn right. You will pass the pedestrian entrance to Glan-y-Bala on the right. Please sound your horn to warn any walkers of your approach. Glan-y-Bala drive entrance is a right turn and is signposted.

Upon entering the grounds, be sure to close the main gate to prevent sheep and goats from wandering onto the property!
